Eve’s third week at home

Bennett helps Daddy give Eve a bath.

Big brother Bennett perfects his baby-bathing skills. His job is the feet and legs…and he does a very good job.

Breaking the Dish

In keeping with Armenian tradition, proud grandparents ceremoniously broke a dish on the front stairs to welcome Baby Eve to their home for the first time!

Welcome Eve Elizabeth Kazanjian!!!
This morning at 8:42, Eve Elizabeth was born at Beth Israel hospital, weighing in at 9.0 pounds and measuring 21 inches. Mom and baby are doing fine.

Katrina woke up this morning at 5:00 with contractions spaced at 4 to 5 minutes. She woke me at 5:15 to start timing them and were out of the house at 5:30. When we got to the hospital around 6:00 (thank goodness for Sunday mornings and light traffic), she was already 6cm. She got a great epidural, which helped her get nice and comfortable. When her doctor examined her arond 8:20 she was a “soft 9″. In the middle of the exam, her water broke and then things really got going. She started pushing at 8:25, and 17 minutes later, little (well, not so little — nine pounds!!!) Eve Elizabeth was born! She did an amazing job! I am so proud of her.

Dr. Bennett checks on the mystery baby

Bennett uses mommy’s stethoscope to listen for the baby’s heartbeat. While he used to predict a girl baby, he is now holding strong to his conviction that the baby will be a boy. Mamma hopes to find out soon.
Bennett gets to eat wheat

In celebration of Dr. Lapey (Bennett’s allergist) giving us permission to introduce wheat into his diet with the hopes that he has outgrown that allergy, Bennett dines on his first true hamburger! He seemed to enjoy it for about five minutes, and then he ripped the bun of the burger and ate only the meat. He is so used to his restricted diet that it has been very difficult to get him to eat anything containing wheat, but so far the results are promising!
Praise the Lord!
