Hear Ye, Hear Ye
Sorry to make it so quick but have a listen…

Look at me!!
Well folks, here I am in all my glory. You should have seen me today jumping around and climbing up and down inside of Mommy. Gotta get that exercise, ya know?

I have all these ribs and a big ol’ noggin.

This is a little embarassing, but here’s my “backside”… look at my nice strong spine!
That’s all for now!

An appropriate birthday present
This book was a no-brainer for Katrina to get for me for my birthday. Who, other than a geek father-to-be would dig a book that refers to a baby’s stomach as the “nutrient absorption chamber” and a diaper as a “waste depository.” This is totally my bag. With diagrams that resemble those on the airline flight emergency cards I can’t put this thing down!
From the introduction…
Congratulations on the arrival of your new baby. This baby is surprisingly similar to other appliances you may already own. Like a personal computer, for instance, the baby will require a source of power to execute her many complicated tasks and functions. Like a videocassette recorder, the baby’s head will require frequent cleanings for optimum performance. And like an automobile, the baby may expel unpleasant odors into the atmosphere.
But there is one major difference: personal computers, videocassette records, and automobiles all come with instruction manuals. Newborn babies do not – hence the book you are holding in your hands. The Baby Owner’s Manual is a comprehensive user’s guide to deriving maximum performance and optimal results from your newborn.

Mommy’ Progress (12 Weeks, 5 Days)
Here’s the first of a (soon to be) series of pictures of Katrina. We want to try to preserve the memory of her body’s progress as the baby (and her belly) grows larger.

Our 12 week appointment
Today was a huge milestone, because now we are considered out of the “danger zone.” Our appointment was very straight forward, and we got to listen to the heartbeat for the first time with a doppler. The doctor warned us at first that sometimes you cannot hear the heartbeat this early, but then she placed the doppler on Katrina’s belly and immediately heard a very strong heartbeat. Our faces lit up. Then, we heard all of these crashing noises, and our doctor told us that those were the sounds of the baby moving! At 12 weeks, this baby is already all over the place!
